Frequently Asked Questions
Can Cloud Computing application perform as well as traditional on-premises application?
Progenist™ applications which are all cloud computing technology based applications perform as well if not better than most of the traditional on-premises application. The one thing that distinguishes us with many other legacy on-premises application is that we built our application with our customer in mind. Ease of use, speed, flexibility, scalability and cost are the foundation of all of our applications we built upon. Our applications are also run and maintained by the best people in the business to ensure the delivery of the highest quality products and experiences for your organization.
Do I still have to worry about upgrading our system every time there's a new patch release?
With Progenist™ applications, you will never have to worry about upgrading your system ever. All necessary maintenance updates will be done automatically and daily when necessary without requiring your involvement. While most legacy applications out there are busy releasing patches to fix their product and only deal with major releases of the product at the most, once every 2 years. At Progenist™, we do major products release every quarter and best of all, you don't have to do anything in order to get the latest and the greatest running in your environment.
Is it true that Cloud Computing Technology can only handle Small and Medium size businesses?
Progenist™ applications are built to handle global 2000 applications requirement. All of our applications are built from the ground up by the same engineers who built the applications for top 5 software vendors. The differences are that these engineers are now encouraged to be more creative and we removed the bureaucratic environment that hampers their creative mind in making a better product. We have a different philosophy in mind and the "Keep it Super Simple" (KISS) holistic approach is being implemented almost like a religion for us.
Can Progenist™ applications be delivered only in cloud computing environment?
Progenist™ applications are all sitting on top of our cloud computing environment. However, in some special cases, where our clients need to host our applications in their own environment, we will try to accommodate their needs. We will keep the whole complete offering in the subscription model including all the services and maintenance. The only different is that the company will now host the application. In the long run, when the time and circumstances has changed, migrating our applications back from company own hosting environment is just a matter of point and click and in most cases, it will take no longer than 1 hour to migrate it back. We give you the option on how we can better serve you and we will work with you to help you be more successful.
Is Cloud Computing Technology very difficult to integrate with other third party application?
Progenist™ applications all has a built in integration mechanism that are very critical to the success of business integration with our system. We have built many points of integration via our Progenist TrackerGateway™ to ensure the highest security coverage for your data integrity and systems environment. We have many integration points that can be accomplished with your systems such as email, Active Directory, LDAP, ERP, HR, or any other applications that require some sort of integration points to communicate with our system via our Web Services or WSDL. Examples of applications that can be integrated with our system out of the box are CA Unicenter NSM, CA Spectrum, IBM Tivoli, HP OpenView, Symantec Altiris and many more. If you can describe to us what needs to be integrated and why you need it, we can help you accomplish it in a very efficient manner.
Is Progenist™ more costly than traditional on-premises application?
Progenist™ charges you the same flat subscription fee for the length of the contract. Even our delivery cost is charged in a flat fee manner utilizing our most popular Progenist QuickStart™ program. Everything you agreed to pay for is all in a flat fee format that will never fluctuate unlike the traditional on-premises application. Our subscription covers all the costs of maintaining the applications such as upgrades, maintenance, hardware, software, backup and the rest of the other costs that are associated with operating the application effectively. One of the biggest challenges in legacy on-premises applications will always have is that one can never pin point the exact cost of running that application in company's environment. Everything always fluctuates. Gartner report has stated that what one pay for a traditional legacy on-premise application will only cover for 20% of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The rest of the cost that any legacy on-premise application provider will never mention to you is the 80% of the TCO. We are so confident that we will save you between 40-70% of your TCO when you switch to us or we will give you a one year service for free*.
*TCO assessment by our qualified engineer will need to be performed. There may be some additional cost associated with performing the TCO assessment for your environment.
Is Cloud Computing Secure?
Security is one of the biggest concerns that people always mention when it comes to Cloud Computing technology. The issue here is mostly a paradigm shift where some people do not feel safe with letting someone else provide and manage all of their mission critical systems. Progenist™ applications are all built with security in mind. We encrypted all of the traffic that travels to and from our applications site to yours. If SSL encryption for information flow is deemed not enough, we may also provide additional optional Progenist TrackerVPN™ to secure the communications between sites. For more information on how Progenist™ secure all of our applications, please Click on "Security is a Must" article.
Is Cloud Computing Technology Sophisticated enough to handle our company's requirements?
We consider the term, sophisticated, as a relative term. It all depends. Do we consider Progenist™ applications sophisticated? Absolutely yes. However we define sophistication beyond just product features and functions. Our definition of sophistication also includes whether the applications will be able to do the job for our clients? Most companies understand that within their organization, there's a need for getting their business's mission done from Point A to Point B with the most efficient delivery mechanism available. The feedback that we get from our clients are that most of the enterprise applications available in the market, whether it's a legacy on-premises application or the cloud computing technology, are basically built as a tool to solve all problems. The issue is since they are trying to solve every problem, the product has become so complex that it has lost its main focus of the original design.
The analogy clients of our use with the currently available applications are that they are mostly big huge legacy Rocket Ship that may take them from point A to point B based on defined specification. However, the mission can only be accomplished after they have spent the big money to make it take off from point A and attempt to land on point B without crashing and burning. We all know, rocket ships are a big, huge expensive tool that will do the job but it's highly inefficient. Progenist™ applications have a more efficient mechanism that will help companies get from point A to point B without having to circle the earth multiple time and costing companies plenty of good dollars. Think of it as an energy efficient car with 300 mpg gas mileage that has the sophistication of space ship technology but will still take you from point A to point B without costing you a fortune in time and money.
